Department of Marine Sciences
The department for Marine Sciences (http://marine.gu.se/english/) is Sweden's most complete academic environment for marine research and education, and it is one of few such institutions in Europe. Thus the department has excellent opportunities to meet future challenges in marine research and education. The department of Marine Sciences are located with permanent staff in Gothenburg and at the research stations Kristineberg and Tjärnö on the Swedish west coast north of Gothenburg.
Department of marine sciences – Tjärnö is looking for a research assistant for a research project on the effects of brown algal polysaccharides as probiotics for chickens.
The work includes laboratory work focused on extraction and purification of laminarin from brown seaweeds, including handling of chemicals and laboratory equipment (centrifuges, dialysis etc).
A bachelor degree in biology, chemistry, or marine sciences is required. The successful candidate should be careful in their work and be able to work independently in the laboratory. Documented experience of previous laboratory work is meriting. The successful candidate should be able to communicate orally in Swedish or English. Great emphasis is put into personal suitability and the ability to work in a team.
