Marine Research Days 2023

The Swedish Society for Marine Sciences welcomes everyone engaged and interested in marine sciences, management and environmental monitoring to this conference on the SEA! The meeting focuses on current aspects of research, management and environmental monitoring in marine systems. The theme of the 2023 conference is “Grand Challenges in Marine Sciences for Sustainable Development in the UN Decade of the Oceans. In addition to oral presentations and poster contributions, there will be room for networking.

The meeting will be co-organized by SHF, Umeå University and Umeå Marine Sciences Center (UMF). Preliminarily, the program will include the opportunity to visit UMF:s research infrastructure in Norrbyn. Additional meeting information and details for registration will be presented on the web and sent out at a later stage.

If you want to contribute with an oral presentation or show a poster at the conference, please feel free to already now submit an expression of interest together with a tentative title tostyrelsen@shf.se.

Dyrssen award 2023

Open for nominations of talented master students

Do you know a talented master student? Then you should nominate this person to the Dyrssen award 2023! Master theses in the marine field that have been approved between July 1st 2022 and June 30th 2023 are eligible for the 2023 Dyrssen award. The project must be within a marine science discipline and approved at a Swedish university. The authors of two theses receive a cash prize and are invited to speak at the Marine Science Conference in Umeå. Cash prizes are 10.000 SEK for first prize and 5.000 SEK for second prize.

The Dyrssen award is managed and awarded by the Swedish Society for Marine Sciences (SHF). The award honors David Dyrssen (1922 - 2011), Emeritus Professor in analytical chemistry at the University of Gothenburg. As one of the founding members of the SHF, he spent his career being an active proponent for the promotion of trans-disciplinary research in marine sciences.

We now accept nominations for the 2023 Dyrssen award until the deadline August 30th. For information about nominations to the Dyrssen award please visit our website or contactdyrssen@shf.se.

The prize ceremony will take place during the Marine Research Days in Umeå.
